I wrote a small Javascript code to enable multiple search such as querying “a&x, b&x, c&x…” at a time. It works like the distributive law.

a prototype of multiple search interface

I’ve just used it to search for design events in the world.

(New York,Berlin,London,Vienna) x (design week)

Oh no, it’s convenient, isn’t it?

Without the interface, I had to search “New York design week”, “Berlin design week”, “London design week” and “Vienna design week” separately…

Search results can be placed freely by drag and drop so that they can be compared easily. One can see more result just by scrolling his/her mouse like using auto pager.

We think, at least I think more messily than what search engines describe as results. We need a new interfaces which fit for our thoughts. I want to realize it :)

( > Japanese Entry: 気になった情報を貼っておける掲示板的な場所 “Kcanvas”)

Kcanvas is a web service that supports PKM (Personal Knowledge Management). It provides canvases / walls (sorry, its name had not been decided concretely) to place fragments of information.

There are great services such as Twitter, bookmark services and blog services to manage personal knowledge. But it seems that they are not enough for PKM. How do you manage fragments of information on list views? They tend to go away as time pasts. Tag? OK, it works. But, moreover, it’s hard for us to express everything in words. We need visual or intuitive interfaces so that we can just place and express out thought. With Kcanvas, users can arrange fragments of information casually by dragging and dropping them.

You can use this service not only from PCs but also from iPhones and iPads :)

Using is believing. Try it from the link below :)

I released a chrome extension “Foreign Language Pad” last month. This time, I made English, German and Japanese server on the Web and added a look up dictionary function and refine its user interface.

With Foreign Language Pad, you can
- look up dictionaries
- translate sentences
- search expressions on the Web
- check pronunciations
in a single environment. Moreover, you don’t have to move your hand to your mouse in most operations!

For further detail, check out the project web page.

How do you do when you want to search for typical food of world countries?

Some of you may search information on the Web by querying “the US popular food”, “Japan popular food”, “Austria popular food”, “England popular food”, “France popular food” … It might be a tired and boring work.

So, I made an interface that enables searching with a query like “(the US, Japan, Austria, England, France) x typical food”.

You can try it on the following web page. Take a look :)

I made a small application that facilitates us writing in foreign languages.

Foreign Language Pad @ Chrome Web Store (free! of course.)

You can compose sentences in a single environment in a messy way like we do inside of our heads. All the operation can be done from your keyboard. For example, type “[sentence]:[from_lang]2[to_lang]“, select it and Ctrl+T to get translation, then a translation and a reversely translated sentence of the original sentence are proposed. No annoying mouse operation!

Moreover, since the application is implemented as a chrome extension, you stay on the page you want to compose sentence so that you can concentrate on writing sentences. With the application, you don’t worry about going for surfing on the Web when you use search engine for checking accuracy of the sentence ;)

You need following items to make a mobile garden: wire plastic net plastic pot soil seed a hair pin string mos [...]

You need following items to make a mobile garden:

wire

plastic net

plastic pot

soil

seed

a hair pin

string

moss

OK, let me explain how to make a mobile garden step by step. This entry describes the preparation. I’ll write the latter part later.

1. Make a base with wire and a piece of plastic net

2. Put the base, soil and seeds into plastic pot
Be sure to put the base first. Unless you do so, the mobile garden will be unstable.

3. Put the pot in a sunny place
Greens come out after several days.
